Betnovate Ointment is a powerful treatment for inflammatory skin conditions and is frequently utilized to manage ailments such as eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis. Along with treating these skin issues and alleviating symptoms like itching, irritation, burning, and swelling, Betnovate Ointment can also be effective in providing relief from symptoms associated with haemorrhoids (piles).
Because of its potency, Betnovate Ointment may be suggested as a treatment for haemorrhoids if other therapies have not been successful.
Before you apply Betnovate Ointment, make sure to wash your hands thoroughly, and ensure that the affected area is also cleaned and dried. This ointment is intended solely for external application. You can use your fingertip to gauge how much ointment to apply. If you are not applying the ointment to your hands as part of the treatment, wash them again after use.
Apply Betnovate Ointment to the affected area in a thin, even layer using small amounts. It is intended for short-term use only. For further guidance on using Betnovate Ointment, refer to the patient information leaflet.
Once your skin condition starts improving, you should reduce the frequency of application as advised by your GP or healthcare professional. If your GP or healthcare provider recommends using dressings along with Betnovate, clean the skin prior to applying the ointment beneath a fresh dressing.
Avoid applying moisturizers to the same skin area simultaneously while using this treatment. Try to wait at least 30 minutes after using the ointment before applying any moisturizers. Not following these guidelines may dilute the active ingredient, potentially reducing its effectiveness.
As with any medication, Betnovate Ointment may cause some side effects. Potential side effects may include, but are not limited to, skin irritation, itching and burning sensations, changes in skin color, increased absorption and thinning of skin with prolonged use, excessive hair growth, worsening of certain types of dermatitis, and vision issues such as cataracts or glaucoma.
